WHY VOLUNTEER?
Volunteering with RooFriends is one of the best ways to support Roosevelt students and staff while building connections with other families. Your time—whether it’s an hour once in a while or ongoing support—helps us provide meals and appreciation for teachers, organize enrichment programs, and host events that make Roosevelt a vibrant, welcoming community. Every role, big or small, contributes to creating the best experience possible for our students.
ARTS AND MUSIC BOOSTERS
Help connect art, music, and theater program needs with parent volunteers and resources. Coordinate support for fundraising, equipment, and performances, enriching our students' creative education.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
PACE-A-THON
Partner with school leadership to organize our annual fundraising event by planning prizes, managing Pledgestar signups, motivating family participation, and communicating goals to build community-wide support.
LUNCHTIME VOLUNTEER
Help supervise students during lunch to enable additional activities like basketball. Choose 1-5 days per week that work with your schedule to support enriching lunchtime experiences. Level C/D Volunteer Clearance and a lunchtime volunteer training are required.
ANNUAL GIVING
Lead communications for our annual fundraising efforts by promoting programs and goals, updating donors on their impact, managing campaign launches, and scheduling regular drives throughout the school year to encourage sustained giving.
AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT
In partnership with the Media Arts Coordinator, plan, schedule, and fill courses for Fall and Spring ASE. Help manage and track budget, monitor programming popularity, and facilitate schedule changes to maximize the foundation’s enrichment goals.
ATHLETICS BOOSTERS
Help connect athletic program needs with parent volunteers and resources. Facilitate gear and concession sales, plan fundraising events, and coordinate support for teams and sport activities.
COMMUNICATIONS
Keep the school community informed through our website, newsletter, calendar, and social media while responding to communication requests and sharing important school news and events.
STAFF APPRECIATION
Support our dedicated teachers and staff year-round through thoughtful acts of kindness, maintaining a well-stocked staff lounge, and helping promote their DonorsChoose classroom projects and wishlists to benefit student learning.
SPONSORS FUNDRAISER
Secure corporate sponsorships through our banner program and develop additional corporate partnership opportunities to support school programs and events.

PARKING FUNDRAISERS
Lead the school's parking fundraisers by creating volunteer sign-ups, recruiting and training helpers with support from volunteer coordinators, and providing general oversight to ensure successful events.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATION
Fulfill campus volunteer needs by creating sign-ups for committees and school requests, coordinating with communications to promote opportunities, hosting appreciation events, and maintaining our volunteer database to ensure effective outreach and recognition.
DISCOUNT CARD FUNDRAISER
Secure business partnerships and contracts for discount card participation, manage card design and partner communications, and coordinate sales events by working with volunteer coordinators and communications team to ensure we have volunteers to facilitate sales at events.
FEEDER SCHOOL LIAISON
Build positive relationships and smooth transitions for families from feeder elementary schools by promoting key events, speaking to parent organizations, assisting with Bear-For-A-Day, and connecting the RMS community to your school. We also need liaisons for San Diego High School to support outgoing families.
